We recommend that guests try to arrive in Florence by Tuesday, May 13th and stay until at least Friday, May 16th as events will be taking place on the 14th and 15th of that week.
While you can select flights that will take you to the Florence airport from the U.S. (this will likely include at least one stop on the way), other alternatives may be more affordable. We would recommend booking a round trip flight to a major European airport destination (e.g., London, Munich, Frankfurt, Reykjavík, etc.) and then booking any shorter, in-between flights separately (these are often very affordable to book once you are already in Europe). Our travel group booked a round trip flight on United between Denver and London and then purchased other flights to and from Italy separately. In addition, United announced that they are adding a non-stop flight Denver to Rome in 2025 (for those traveling directly from Denver)! If you plan to fly in our out of Rome, trains can be booked from the Rome airport to the main train station in Florence.
No, there is no reserved hotel block for this wedding. Please plan to book your own preferred accomodations.
We recommend that all guests stay near the city center of Florence. Florence is fairly walkable and you cannot go wrong with picking a spot within the city's perimeter. The Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Museum, Piazza della Signoria, Santo Spirito neighborhood, and Santa Croce neighborhood are typically great spots to stay near in the city! It seems that Airbnbs and other rental options are the most affordable, but completely up to you if you would prefer to stay at a hotel instead. Recommended hotels are provided in the "Travel Recommendations" tab of the wedding website.
-Please ensure that your travel passport has not expired and/or that it is not set to expire within 6 months of this trip. If your passport is expiring this year, we recommend having it renewed as soon as possible (this process can take up to 8 weeks). -Please contact your cell phone service provider to let them know that you will be traveling to another country for this trip and to understand any plan options or service charges associated with travel. -Make sure to bring plug adapters that will work in Italy on this trip as the outlets in Europe are different from those in the U.S.! These can be ordered directly from Amazon. -If you are traveling to the UK at all during this trip, you will need to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) prior to your trip. Here is the link to apply: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
We would recommend downloading rideshare apps that are specific to Italy, such as itTaxi or appTaxi. While Uber might be available in larger cities such as Rome, it is the not preferred method for ordering transportation in Florence. We would recommend ordering transportation through one of these select apps, especially when traveling to and from the Florence airport.
Please visit the Trenitalia, ItaliaRail, or Italo websites to book train tickets needed during your stay in Italy!
Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia is both the pick-up and drop-off location for wedding guests. A few guests will be leaving earlier, but the majority of guests will be departing this spot at 4PM the day of the wedding. The shuttles will be picking guests up from the venue at 12:30AM and 1:00AM to return to this location in the city. We would recommend either walking to this pick-up location (perhaps bringing another pair of walking shoes with you) or taking a taxi to get there!
May is typically a very pleasant month for weather in Florence, with temperatures in the mid to high 70s on average. Florence can get quite humid and can even be rainy at this time of year. Please plan to bring light, breathable clothing as well as a rain jacket with you to prepare for this trip.
We are asking our guests to wear a hybrid of dressy casual and semi-formal attire. The groom and other groomsmen will be wearing black suits and black ties. However, jackets and ties are optional for other guests attending (completely up to your preference!). Those planning to wear a dress to the wedding (including bridesmaids) are being asked to wear longer, below-the-knee dresses in light pastel colors (preferred, but not mandatory). Please visit Carly's pinterest board here for dress inspiration: https://pin.it/3eP6gOF7j
