Rocky Mountain National Park
If you're extending your stay, we highly recommend a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park. Just minutes from Estes Park, RMNP is one of Colorado’s most spectacular destinations, featuring alpine lakes, towering peaks, abundant wildlife, and over 350 miles of hiking trails. Whether you're looking for a scenic drive, a leisurely walk, or a full-day mountain adventure, the park offers unforgettable views and experiences for every type of traveler. Keep your eyes open for elk, bighorn sheep, and moose—you may spot them right from the road! Adrian and I visited RMNP for the first time in 2025, and loved it. Estes Park
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Estes Park is a charming mountain town and the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, and only 25 minutes away from Lyons. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives, hiking, wildlife viewing, shopping, local restaurants, and breathtaking mountain views. Keep an eye out for elk, which are often spotted throughout town. Estes Park is also home to the historic The Stanley Hotel, famous for inspiring Stephen King's The Shining. Guests can tour the hotel, learn about its history, and, for those who enjoy a good ghost story, explore its reputation as one of Colorado's most haunted destinations.
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre
Carved into towering red sandstone formations, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is one of the most famous outdoor concert venues in the world. Even if there isn't a show during your visit, guests can tour the venue, hike the surrounding trails, visit the museum, and take in spectacular views of the Denver skyline and foothills.
Golden
Located at the base of the foothills, Golden offers a mix of history, outdoor recreation, and small-town charm. Walk along Clear Creek, explore downtown shops and restaurants, visit museums, or enjoy hiking and biking trails nearby. Golden is also home to the famous Coors Brewing Company, where visitors can learn about Colorado's brewing history.
