Once upon a time, there was a boy and a girl. The boy and the girl had a lot of fun together. They spent their time having wonderful conversations and taking each other on new adventures. They were always there for each other. As their friendship grew, they began to disagree. The girl knew in her heart that this challenged her and helped her to grow. And the boy knew in his heart that he loved the girl’s soul and wanted the best for her. So, no matter how hard they tried to stay away from one another, their friendship persevered. Grew stronger, even. It brought them both joy, but also heartache. One year, on Valentine’s Day, they got together. Neither the boy or the girl had anything else to do, and it had been a while since they had been together one on one. The next day came and they saw each other again. They saw each other the next night, too. And the next one. And the one after that. When the day after that arrived, they admitted to each other that they were in love, that they always had been in a beautiful and complicated way. They kept on with the adventures, the fun, the wonderful conversations. They got bigger, better, and filled with even more love. They moved to Spain, lived in a camper off the grid, road tripped the U.S., and parked themselves in Southern California. They often wondered what their next adventure would be, but nothing stuck. One day, while the boy and the girl were backpacking Catalina Island, the boy got down on one knee. He asked the girl if she would spend the rest of her life with him. And in that moment, they both became sure of what their next adventure would be - an awesomely beautiful journey of heart and soul and unconditional love. And probably plenty more disagreements. And they were ready for it.
