Port Vieux
Take a leisurely walk around Port Vieux, the old harbor. This picturesque area is filled with charming streets, traditional Basque architecture, and plenty of cafes where you can sample local delicacies. Don't forget to visit the Rocher de la Vierge! At sunset, take a stroll over the 75-meter footbridge, through the tunnel, and out to the rock with the Virgin Mary statue on top. The 360° view of the Atlantic Ocean is breathtaking.
Surfing at La Grande Plage
Begin your adventure at La Grande Plage, the main beach of Biarritz. Famous for its surf culture, it's the perfect spot to catch waves or enroll in a surf school. If surfing isn't your thing, relax on the sandy shore and enjoy the panoramic views. We love sitting outside at Bleu Café with an espresso to watch the action.
Halles de Biarritz
This is an absolute must-do in Biarritz. You can find Basque specialties like ‘pintxos’ (small snacks aka tapas), fresh seafood, and the famous Gateau Basque. Sample and shop for local produce and don't leave without enjoying some fresh oysters. Surrounding the market are streets lined with cafes. In the summertime, it's a great place to sit outside for a drink. The Gin & Tonics here are amazing.
Phare de Biarritz
Climb the 248 steps of the Biarritz Lighthouse for a breathtaking view of the Bay of Biscay and the town. The lighthouse, built in 1834, stands at 73 meters above sea level and offers some of the best views in Biarritz. We recommend walking along the coastal path from here to La Grande Plage.
Bayonne, France

A quant Basque fishing town with a beautiful crescent shaped beach about 20 minutes from Biarritz. Definitely worth visiting for an afternoon.
