Carlton and I had been discussing marriage for quite some time. I knew that eventually Carlton was going to propose but I did not know when. The week of July 11th Carlton was trying to set a time for us to go out on a date. We agreed that we would go out that coming Sunday July 18th. The days leading up to that Sunday I was not feeling well. I asked Carlton if we could reschedule for that upcoming Thursday, and we agreed to go out that Thursday July 22nd. I still was not feeling well, and I no longer wanted to go out that Thursday. I was talking to my mother, and I was telling her how I felt and how I no longer wanted to go out. My mom spilled the beans and told me Carlton was trying to propose. She told me that the Sunday that we were supposed to go out Carlton was going to propose and that my friends and family were aware and were going to be there and support and celebrate. Naturally, I was regretful and mad with myself that I had messed up such a nice proposal. I did not tell Carlton that I knew he was going to propose, I just went along with everything, and I made sure I was prepared. That Thursday came and we went out to a nice restaurant. We were talking and laughing having a fun time. Then suddenly Carlton gets sentimental. I knew what was about to happen, but I just sat there listening. Then I noticed that he kept looking over my shoulder and he gave a head nod. Then that is when the manager of the restaurant came out with our dessert and there was a ring sitting on top of the cheesecake. Of course, I started freaking out (even though I knew what was coming). Carlton got down on one knee and asked that I be his wife. I said yes, and we celebrated the rest of that night with family.
