An Answered Prayer

2019

Our story began with an Instagram follow in 2019. Even though we both grew up in West Haven, CT and shared many mutual friends, our paths had somehow never crossed. At the time, Carlos was working with someone Korina knew from middle school, and somehow her name came up in conversation. After being shown her Instagram profile, Carlos memorized her username and later that same day decided to take a chance and follow a complete stranger because he thought she was beautiful. On Korina’s end, following strangers back was never something she usually did. But there was something different about Carlos. Yes, he was handsome — but beyond that, she noticed his love for hiking and paddle boarding, and most importantly, the way he openly shared Bible verses and his faith through his posts. Something about him immediately caught her attention. One follow turned into likes, likes turned into conversations, and the rest is history. Seven years later, we are finally preparing to say “I do.” For anyone who truly knows us, they know this journey has been a long time coming— and it has not always been easy. We have faced struggles, made mistakes, lived outside of God’s will at times, and learned hard lessons along the way. But through it all, God’s mercy, love, and grace proved greater than anything else. This marriage is a deeply answered prayer for both of us. Through prayer, obedience, forgiveness, and daily choosing each other, God has given us a second opportunity to enter into this holy sacrament — not by our own strength, but through the Holy Spirit guiding our hearts back to one another. Although our journey has not been 14 years like Jacob waited for Rachel, Carlos has faithfully waited seven years for his beloved. Through every season — the beautiful, the difficult, and the refining — God continued writing our story. And now, on August 2, 2026, God willing, 30-year-old Carlos and 28-year-old Korina will stand before God, family, and friends to enter into one of the most beautiful sacraments anyone can receive: Marriage.
