Whats the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail-cowboy-disco chic. Cocktail attire that you can groove in. We will be outside in Texas-November which is usually lovely, but can get chilly at night so bring a layer. Parts of the evening will be on a grass ground so leave the stilettos at home. Feel free to be funky! Boots, hats, jumpsuits, Canadian tuxedos, and glitter are encouraged.

Will transportation be available? How do we get around?

Answer

Transportation shuttles will be provided between The Carpenter Hotel and Laguna Gloria for the Ceremony. Shuttle leave at 4PM sharp on Friday to Laguna Gloria and then at 11 pm from the venue back to The Carpenter. Uber and Lyft are widely available from all surrounding areas, the airport, and hotels. We STRONGLY recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to the wedding if you are not on the shuttle as parking is not provided at the venue and it can be difficult to find street parking nearby. Please allow enough time as it will be rush hour and even though the wedding venue, Laguna Gloria is close to downtown hotels it could take 30-45 minutes to get there with traffic.

Fun Things to Do Around Austin

FUN THINGS ------ On The Lake – If you want to SUP board, kayak or canoe Uber or bike 2 miles to The Rowing Dock https://www.rowingdock.com/ Zilker Park boat rentals is walking distance at Zilker Park/ Barton Springs Pool. Bike – If you want a better bike than what the hotel has or an electric bike to ride around the lake try Barton Springs Bike Rental, they also do bike tours. https://www.bartonspringsbikerental.com/ Shop/Explore – South Congress is a quick uber from The Carpenter and is great to walk down and explore funky shops, get a drink at the South Congress Hotel, a slice of Pizza from Homeslice or take pictures in front of iconic Austin murals. Dance/Live Music – The Carpenter is right by the iconic Saxon Pub which has live music every night, we also recommend classic downtown clubs such as Antone's, Continental Club or Broken Spoke (a local square dancing spot). RESTAURANTS NEARBY ------- The Carpenter Hotel has a very good restaurant and coffee shop but here are some neighborhood restaurants: P-Terry’s – Fast Food burgers. You will see P-Terry’s from the front door of the hotel. P-Terry’s is a local chain. We will be ending the night here after the wedding. Zoe Tong – High end Asian – takes reservations Juliet’s – Italian, takes reservations (they are right across the street from the hotel and also have great pizza that you can pick up to go) Lou’s Chicken – burgers, breakfast tacos -sports bar Chuys - The original Tex Mex, queso to die for Green Mesquite - Dive BBQ Terry Blacks BBQ - Infamous BBQ Casa de Luz – Vegan/Vegetarian LOCAL MARKET ------ If you need any sundries Thom’s Market is a funky little store right next to The Carpenter Hotel with snacks, beverages, wine and some groceries, etc. Thom’s also sells breakfast tacos and premade sandwiches and salads.

I want to book an AirBnB. Recommended neighborhoods?

Answer

Our venue Laguna Gloria - The Contemporary Austin is in North Central Austin. Some nearby neighborhoods include Tarrytown, Hyde Park, Downtown Austin, and Zilker. These neighborhoods are close to the venue and offer a great Austin experience.
