FAQs

The Wedding Website of Carlos Piñeiro Cordero and Amanda Brief
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

July 12th, por favor!

Question

What should we know about the day of?

Answer

We'll be practicing some fun and meaningful Jewish ceremony customs – more described on the day-of (but if you'd like to get familiar with what to expect beforehand, reach out!) You'll be asked to turn off your cell phones, and make absolutely sure there are no ringers / alarms that will make any noises. Please, no talking during the ceremony. You'll be asked to partially join in as we sing Erev Shel Shoshanim – Amanda and the Cantor will start us off, then everyone is encouraged to sing or hum along. Please blow bubbles and shout Mazel Tov after we break the glass at the end to welcome us into the world as a married couple – bubbles will be joyfully provided.

Question

Where can I preview the Hebrew love song we'll be singing, Erev Shel Shoshanim?

Answer

The Cantor will cue you when to join in! Lyrics and history here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erev_Shel_Shoshanim Funnily enough, Amanda co-led a Bat Mitzvah with this fellow Bay Area musician this summer, who has recorded a learning video here: https://www.bimbam.com/erev-shel-shoshanim/

Question

Talk to me about COVID.

Answer

Here's the deal – let's stay safe. We request that guests receive their full COVID vaccination with appropriate boosting by two weeks prior to the wedding. If that won't be the case, then do obtain a negative COVID test within 24 hours prior to the wedding. Please also note that if any member of your party is symptomatic or is feeling ill, stay home and keep others safe – we will celebrate with you soon!

Question

Can I take the shuttle even if I'm not staying at the Hilton Garden Inn?

Answer

Yes! If you are staying near (but not at) the Hilton and would prefer to take our shuttle to safely drink or just to sing "The Wheels on the Bus" repeatedly with your fellow guests, feel free to hop on! Just let us know on the RSVP page so the cool kids save you a seat on the bus.

Question

#toomanylastnames? WAT??

Answer

What you're actually asking without knowing it is: Ok, dish. Are we changing names or what??! Well, all Spaniards have two last names – their father’s first last name, followed by their mother’s first last name. Their names do not change as a result of marriage. Amanda will honor this beautiful egalitarian custom by taking on her mother’s last name as a second last name, to become Amanda Brief Frankel – paying homage to some pretty remarkable people in the lineage. Welcome the Piñeiro Brief Cordero Frankel family (say that 4 times fast!)

Question

What's with the mermaid hints [did you find the surprise mermaid on the invite??]?

Answer

So...on Amanda's online dating profile, her main pic featured her dressed as a mermaid [which clearly worked, so don't hate]. Therefore, you'll see all sorts of allusions to this – the invite, bubbles and shells at the wedding, and wait 'til you see the cake...
