We first met while working at Coffee Corner, our college campus coffee shop. Carlos was the quiet one, while Alaina was her usual bright and bubbly self. Not wanting to come off as overbearing, she usually kept the small talk light, and the two didn’t chat much during their shifts together until... One slow night, when no drunk college kids needed coffee or snacks, Alaina looked up from her phone and asked Carlos a simple question: “So, where are you from?” Carlos replied, “Denver.” That one answer sparked a conversation that didn’t stop for the rest of the shift. We soon discovered we’d both grown up in the same part of Denver and shared a love for all the amazing Mexican and Pho restaurants along Federal Blvd, the local Carniceria shops, and the hustle and bustle of inner city life. From that night on, we weren’t just co-workers—we were friends who shared nostalgic childhood memories growing up in Denver. Time passed, and life took us in different directions until one day Alaina spotted Carlos at the local gym. A few DMs later, and we found ourselves on our first date at the brewery where Alaina worked, ending the night with ice cream at Dairy Queen with potential food poisoning?... That's a conversation for another time... Our next date took us to Colorado Springs, where we spent the day exploring Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs. Many dates later, Carlos asked Alaina what we should call ourselves—were we just friends or something more? Alaina smiled and said, “If you’re ready, I’m ready.” They sealed it with a handshake, officially marking the start of their relationship. A few months later, Carlos moved into Alaina’s tiny one-bedroom apartment, and this is where we truly fell in love. During these days, our favorite date nights included dancing and drinks in downtown Colorado Springs, trying new food at all the local restaurants, taking Apollo to the dog park, and catching the latest movie together. As our relationship grew, life became one big adventure. Together we’ve explored Guatemala, California, and Florida, with plenty of visits to see Alaina’s parents in Gypsum. We love spending our time eating delicious Nicaraguan food made by Carlos's grandma and mom, going to concerts, sporting events, the zoo, and—of course—our longtime favorite, the movies. Eventually, we moved back up to the Denver metro area, where we’re now building our life together—buying our first home, thriving in our careers, and excited to begin this next chapter as newlyweds.
