Like most Gen Zers nowadays, Justin and Sarah met on a dating app. Both had just gotten out of long-term relationships and weren't looking for anything serious. But the moment they met in person, they knew something special had happened. And when Sarah managed to survive meeting Justin's entire family at an event the following weekend, it was clear that they were both in deep. Despite the distance between Baton Rouge, LA and Jackson, MS, they made it work and have been happily together since 2018.
Before moving back to Jackson, MS for her senior year of college, Sarah knew that something was up. To his character (and detriment), Justin wasn't very good at keeping a secret with a poker face. When they planned to celebrate their 3 year anniversary on October 2nd, Justin was very cryptic with what he had planned for them. Sarah knew something was up when her mom bought her a new dress for that weekend and offered to do her hair and makeup (like she used to for Homecoming and Prom back in high school). Justin took her to the Columbia Street Landing in Covington, LA where they walked past a gazebo full of high schoolers taking Homecoming pictures and down a path lit with tea light candles. He popped the question in a little nook of the path and Sarah immediately said yes. When he asked if she liked the ring (which she had picked out months before), she told him she couldn't see it for the tears in her eyes. After taking some surprise engagement photos (the photographer Justin hired had been hiding in the crowd of high schoolers), they made their way over to Annadele's for another surprise: Justin had arranged for all of their friends and family to have dinner with the newly engaged couple after the proposal. Needless to say, there were more tears from Sarah.
