You must have an updated valid U.S. passport AT LEAST 6 months in advance! If you do not have a passport yet or your passport has expired before June 2020, you will not be permitted to enter Austria! *Passports must be updated and received BEOFRE November 4th!
The best time to buy airfare is NOW! Cheapest airfare is at least 6 months out from our wedding date! You need to fly into Munich, Germany. From there you will take a 2 hour train to Salzburg! From the train station in Salzburg when you arrive, you can hail a taxi to your desired Hotel! Flying into Munich is cheaper than flying into salzburg. There are also no direct flights to Salzburg from ATL. You can find cheap flights on cheapoair.com as well as Expedia.com and Travelocity.com
Monday June 1st is a National Holiday in Salzburg. Because of this most stores (shopping, tourist stores) will be closed that day. However tourist attractions (Eagles nest, Sound of music tour etc..) will NOT be closed! So prepare in advance for this! Sunday May 31st stores will be closing at 5pm in honor of the holiday on Monday, Keep this in mind!!!
My family and I plan to leave from the ATL airport on Thursday May 28th and arrive in Munich, Germany on Friday May 29th. We have found that leaving that Thursday is cheaper than leaving on a Friday or Saturday. ALSO keep in mind that places to shop and eat will close early Sunday May 31st in honor of The National holiday Monday June 1st. If you plan to arrive Saturday or Sunday please let me know via text or email so I can plan accordingly with the hotel.
