It was New Years Eve going into 2019. Ben & Carlie were sophomores in college both home from college on winter break. They both end up at a mutual friend's New Years Eve party. Carlie is behind the bar & Ben comes over to introduce himself. They proceed to talk for what seemed like the whole night. Ben eventually asks Carlie for her number instead of her Snapchat, which at that time Carlie was impressed by his gentleman gesture (if you know, you know). They definitely hit it off and talk for a while, unable to see each other. Both are traveling the rest of the break & have to head back to school to finish their second semester. Time passed, but they never forgot each other. Winter break - Jan 2020, Ben & Carlie’s junior year they both go on a Snowdaze college ski trip in Steamboat, CO. They are having an awesome time skiing with friends in the beautiful mountains of Steamboat, until fate decides to strike one last time. Carlie is with a group of KU friends on a break off on the side of a mountain, when Ben happens to be in that same spot, waiting for his friends. Ben recognizes a friend's voice & takes his mask down to say hello. Ben & Carlie recognize each other & both ski the rest of the afternoon together. As the day winds down, Carlie invites Ben & his friends to a shindig back at their condo with other friends that night. The rest of the group is playing spoons while Ben & Carlie are in nonstop conversation the rest of the evening, in their own world. The rest of the trip Ben & Carlie ski & hangout together with their friends having the best time & are definitely feeling all the butterflies & sparks. The trip comes to an end until Carlie & some of her friends decide they are having too much fun to go home yet. They decide they want an extra night in Denver on their way out & ask Ben if he wants to join. It’s a no-brainer for Ben. Carlie, her two girlfriends & Ben set out the next morning to Denver. Until they get word that a big blizzard is headed their way. The trip is cut short & they start the drive home. Over the next few days snowed in together, they realize they’ve already fallen madly in love with each other & their lives were about to change for the better. Carlie & Ben go their separate ways back to their schools for second semester of Junior year, until COVID rocks their world two months later. School turns completely virtual, & they are fortunate to spend some more time together before Ben heads to Virginia for an internship that summer. They are as inseparable as they could be, being long distance. After Summer they head off to school for senior year, seeing each other frequently because let's be real, they couldn’t stay away. After graduation Ben is off to Denver to start his job & new adventure in Denver, CO. A place they both dreamed of living someday. That fall, Carlie gets a job & moves out as well, blessed to be living their dream. Later that year they make the sporadic & best decision ever to add a furry little fellow named Maverick into the mix, & now have created the cutest little family together. Fast forward almost 3 years later, they are living their best lives in Colorado together in their new home. Skiing together, camping together, frequenting Red Rocks concerts together, exploring new hikes, trying new eats & adventuring to new spaces & places of CO. FINALLY - Ben decides it's time. He proposes to Carlie on August 31st, 2024 at The Blue Lakes in Breckenridge, CO. It is truly the best day of their lives thus far as he surprised her with such a thoughtful & beautiful proposal, as well as flying in part of his family & having a surprise engagement party to follow with some of their CO besties. Their story continues with lots of adventures in between & now getting everything ready to spend the best & most special day of their lives with (YOU), all their most favorite people. They are beyond excited to have everyone come together & celebrate their love together in their most favorite place.
