Things To Do

Chicago Botanic Garden

Chicago Botanic Garden

1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, IL 60022

One of our favorite spots near the city—and where we took our wedding photos! The gardens are a must-see whether you’re visiting from out of town or have lived here forever. It’s where we love to ride our bikes, go for walks, and enjoy the beauty of every season. If you have time during your trip, mark this as a definite to-do on your list.

Wendella Tours & Cruises

Wendella Tours & Cruises

400 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611

We love taking family and friends on an architectural boat tour whenever they visit—it’s such a fun way to see the city. There are lots of options to choose from (and plenty of Groupon deals!), and it’s something that truly never gets old. Even as Chicago natives, we go every year and always come away learning something new. Seeing the skyline from the river is an experience we’d recommend to anyone.

Offshore Rooftop

Offshore Rooftop

1000 East Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611

For an unforgettable view of the city, we recommend Offshore Rooftop at Navy Pier — a rooftop bar with incredible skyline and lake views right over the water. It’s a great spot for drinks and a bite to eat while taking in Navy Pier

Montrose Beach

Montrose Beach

4400 North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60640

We love Montrose Beach — it’s one of our favorite Chicago spots for easy parking, open space, and a relaxed, less crowded feel by the lake. Right on the beach is The Dock at Montrose, a casual spot for food and drinks with a great view of the water. Just next door is the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary (aka “the Magic Hedge”), which feels like a little hidden escape in the city.
