FAQs

Question

Where will we be all weekend?

Answer

Everything wedding-related is happening at Sanctuary Farm. We welcome you to join us there on Friday evening, and again on Saturday at whatever time suits you, although the ceremony will occur in the evening. The farm has plenty of space, indoors and out, for socializing, strolls, grass volleyball, and whatever else you care to get up to. Of course, there's plenty to do in Chapel Hill and Durham, too.

Question

What does the Friday "Welcome Reception" entail?

Answer

We'll have light food, drinks, and a lovely outdoor space for socializing. We'll make a variety of other activities available, to include grass volleyball, various other games, and a scheduled session in the firewood-heated sauna on site. There will be a fire. We'll see where the evening takes us. (If it rains, we'll retreat to the ample indoor loft space.)

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We invite you to wear cocktail attire to the ceremony and reception. As for the rest of the agenda, wear what you like!

Question

What should I do with my children?

Answer

We think the best wedding are those where guests feel at ease. If that means bringing your children, you're welcome to do so -- just please let us know, so we can get a headcount for an on-site babysitter.

Question

How will I get from the hotel to the farm?

Answer

We'll have a shuttle on Saturday. Otherwise, you'll have to drive or hire a cab or rideshare. There is plenty of parking on site, and we are told that rideshare services have no trouble finding the place (and are available for late-night pickups).

Question

Can I stay on site?

Answer

There are a handful overnight accommodations at the farm. They are yurts, and they are rustic. The precise level of comfort varies from yurt to yurt. All of them are on raised platforms and have real beds, but none of them have air conditioning. Most of them sleep four to six people, so you'd likely be sharing a yurt with others. But you'll have easy access to the main building on the farm, which is climate-controlled, and has comfortable space for relaxation. And we're excited to have guests on the farm all weekend. The stays are included in our venue package and it was a selling point for us! We expect a variety of yet-to-be-scheduled activities on Saturday, to which yurt accommodations will provide carefree access. Some of our guests have already signed up for yurt accommodations. If they interest you, reach out to us (space is limited). If they don't, we completely understand.

Question

We love you, but we don't want to stay in a yurt?

Answer

Rest assured, we know yurts are not for everyone. Our invitation is merely that. We want you to feel comfortable!
