One day after my workout, I had to run in the Food Lion on 74 in Rockingham to pick up a few things. While on the Gatorade aisle, I saw a man dressed very nice stocking the shelves. I finished my grocery shopping and went home, never thinking about that man. However, he had Abbey, my sister, on Snapchat and had saw me on her Snapchat story and put two and two together. He expressed to Abbey that he saw me in Food Lion, and apparently thought I was looking cute, even though I was all sweaty from working out. Of course, Abbey told me right away. Not to long after, she gave him my Snapchat, and the rest is history.
Well it was Christmas Day 2021, and I was doing my usual Christmas Day gatherings with family, and JD was doing his. I was planning on going to his house at 6 to exchange gifts, but he had other plans before hand. It was ten minutes to four and my mom called me into the living room and said I had another present to open. It was a candle and a card. The card was my first clue to best moment ever. JD had planned a whole scavenger hunt through Rockingham, ending at his land in Lilesville. We started at my Grandma and Pa’s house, then to my Nene and Pop’s house, then to Food Lion, then to the daycare that my sister and I work at, and finally the land. Let me not forget that he had arranged for all of my family and his family to be there as well. Before we arrived, Abbey blindfolded me, and my Pops walked me right in front of JD and turned me around. She gave me my last clue that ended with, “But first I have to ask…” When I turned around my man was on one knee, nervous as could be and asked me to marry him. It was truly the best moment ever.
