Have you ever met someone and knew that they would be important in your life? That happened to us late in the summer of 2020. After months of chatting over text and a single picnic date, we spent a weekend mountain biking, camping, eating mac n’ cheese, canoeing, and watching the Perseid meteor shower together from the dock near our campsite. The obvious connection we felt during that date was contrasted by how awkward and shy we acted towards one another whenever the situation hinted at something deeper than being friends. Imagine us laying inches apart from one another on a dock watching a breathtaking meteor shower at 2am, and neither of us had the guts to ask to hold hands. Years later we can look back with amusement at our awkwardness, but at the time we both knew that we had met someone special and wanted to tread with care. Carlee wrote in her journal that he "seemed familiar, like a friend already...although I don't think he's a dog person" (this last point has since been disproven) and Holland gushed endlessly to his friends. It took us another NINE months to finally nudge our relationship out of the "friend zone", but here we are! And we're excited to celebrate with you.
