Carl and Shanelle grew up in the same neighborhood in Poplar Grove. As young children, they always had a crush on each other, but they were too young to understand what those feelings truly meant. As the years passed, life kept bringing them back into each other’s paths. In 2004, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl, forever connecting their lives. In the summer of 2024, their daughter invited her father, Carl, to join her mom and sisters at the beach, and from that day forward, Carl and Shanelle began spending more time together, getting to know each other again as adults. On July 27, Carl took Shanelle to one of her favorite places near the water and asked her to be his lady. Overjoyed, she said yes! From that moment on, they became inseparable, exploring life and the world together. On August 31, 2025, Carl surprised Shanelle by getting down on one knee in front of all her friends and family and asked her to marry him, and of course, she said yes! This has truly been a love story written by God. Though they knew each other as children, God allowed them time to grow in their gifts, discover who they were, and explore the world, only to find their way back to each other, stronger than ever.
