IN CARL'S WORDS, because, typical of a hero, she objects to the "Super Woman" paragraph :) We have known each other all of our lives. We have cared about each other for all of those years. We each led separate lives: married young, raised amazing children, had careers, travelled across the country (me) and the world (she). I parted amicably with my first wife years ago; then found love, heartbreak, loneliness, and finally, peace, or more accurately, acceptance. Joanna lost a son, and soon after, her beloved. She, too, accepted the inevitability of loneliness. But God had other plans. Her tragedy and my loving heart brought us together, initially. Having known and loved her all of my life, I reached out to offer comfort and assistance. Her reply to me, as to everyone, was the same: "I'm fine". But I knew better, because I knew HER. So I persisted, not with any ulterior motive, but simply because I had never forgotten the kind, joyful, caring soul who felt deeply, laughed heartily, smiled infectiously. I understood that to become Super Woman, to become the caregiver to so many who needed her, indeed, to survive and thrive, she picked up a shield and covered herself in armor. But I wanted to speak to HER, the hurting, laughing, silly, free Joanna that wasn't lost, only sleeping. Over several months, in the process of breaking—no, of FREEING her—something else happened, to both of us. And that something leads us to this celebration. She is the soulmate that every creature yearns to find, and, thank God, she feels the same about me. Our search is over. We found each other. Come help us declare our forever love before family, friends, and most of all, God. About the hashtag #Carloanna_TechAndTiara: My middle name is Carlos. I give up the last letter in my name. Joanna gives up her first letter. We join on the common "O". Among our families and friends, I have always been the computer guy (Tech), and she has always been the princess (Tiara). And now you know.
