How we met

Throughout the years we always had mutual friends but never actually crossed paths. Carl's best friend who was also a mutual friend of mine decided to talk to both of us about each other. Carl finally decided to send me a friend request and message through Facebook in January 2021. We started to chat and instantly connected. I decided to go on a first date with him a week later. The date went well and we were constantly talking. We were going on dates and hanging out for a few months after then we decided to make it official. A year and a half later we got engaged on October 1, 2021.

The Proposal

I had a feeling

We were having a 13th birthday cookout for Carl's daughter at his mom's house. Throughout the day Carl was acting like he was up to something. While we were at his mom's house cooking and getting ready for the party Carl said that he had to go help his dad with something at his house. While Carl was gone his mom and youngest daughter both told me that Carl had a surprise for me that I am going to love. I started to think about what it was. Shortly after Carl left he called me and asked if he were to propose if I would say yes. I answered yes. At that point I knew something was up. Shortly after Carl got back I started to question if he was going to propose today. Most of our family was there at the party including my parents. Well during the party, Carl, two of his sisters, and our kids were in the house. I went to go in the house and the door was locked. I called him and said "are you done being sketchy or can I come inside now." A few minutes later they unlocked the door and they all came out of the house. I went inside and when I came back out, I went into the backyard and standing there were our kids each holding a plate saying "Will You Marry Me?" I said yes and our kids ran up to us to give us a huge hug. After he proposed I found out that he never went to his dad's house but decided to go to my parent's house to ask for their blessing to marry me.
