Known only through our site names -- Paul was "the Prince of Venice" and Carla was "AudioBookworm" -- plus a few photos, we started chatting through instant messenger and then via the telephone. We soon met in downtown Venice and began dating. The big test was how Carla's very protective German Shepherd, Sir Knight, would react to meeting Paul.
