Father of the Bride
My dad aka "Paca" is the smartest, hardest working person you will ever meet. He's a hard core UK basketball fan, a lover of horses and the best grandpa and father in the world!
Mother of the Bride
My mom Lynn is the center of the Gilbert family. She's traveled the world and has the most amazing stories ever! She's also the most amazing grandmother and mom and has instilled some amazing family values (i.e. family dinner-EVERY NIGHT!) in the Gilbert girls.
Best Woman
My womb mate and bestie for life. Nita is always by my side and the comedian of the family. She moonlights as a contractor and basketball coach :)
Bride Crew
Sancha is my older sister and someone I have always looked up to! Her and my brother in law Perry are #couplegoals and I've learned a lot about love from them.
Jr. Bride Crew
Rose is my soon to be bonus daughter. She is wise beyond her years, beautiful inside and out and has embraced me with open arms.
Jr. Bride Crew
Sonya, my beautiful amazing daughter needs no introduction to most. She loves shoes, music (90s R&B and hip hop in particular), sports, food and our dogs Maddie Patterson and Winnie Rue.
Bride Crew
Susan is my soon to be sister in law whom happens to be exactly 4 days younger than me! From the moment I met her I knew we'd vibe! I'm excited to get to know her more and more in the years to come!
Bride Crew
Laurie is my other soon to be sister in law and welcomed Sonya and I with open arms the moment we met her! She coined the nickname "Flip Flop" for Sony and has the biggest heart!
Bride Crew
Kelly is a dear friend who my mom has dubbed "The Most Thoughtful Friend"....She is a world traveler and the world's greatest host!
Bride Crew
Brie is the first friend I made in Seattle. We bonded the moment our spunky divas broke out in song and dance at the Gym Daycare nearly 8 years ago!
Bride Crew
I met Mel through Kelly and have held on tight to her since that intro! Mel is hilarious and has the most amazing pup Biscuit (aka "Queen B"-my god dog!) Yes...."Queen B" will be attending the wedding! Mel and I share a love of minimalism and clean lines.
Bride Crew
I have known Danielle for over 18 years. We have so many memories together I can't even count! Danielle has been there for me through thick and thin and epitomizes "strength".
Bride Crew
Katie and I met under funny circumstances but never looked back. We have been on some amazing girl trips, share a love of sushi and dancehall music and I've always admired Katie's drive, ambition and strength!
Father of the Groom
My dad has always been the one who I can go to for honest advice. Whether I like the answer or not, his input has always given me a good perspective on the challenges I have faced in my life. He is the most honest and ethical man I know, and I have always strived to live up to the same standards. My dad served his country for many years both in the Air Force and then in the private sector. I have always been very proud of the accomplishments he had during his career, the pinnacle of which was helping to launch the Joint Strike Fighter jet program in his last years at Lockheed Martin. He was also my inspiration to be a serious runner in my 20's and 30's, and I cherish that we have that in common.
Mother of the Groom
My mom is the most generous and kind-hearted person I've ever known. There is a quote she has always proudly displayed on a kitchen magnet: “A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.". This is how she lives her life and I love her so much for that. She is a lover of books, and the proudest years in her working career were when she was a librarian in Ft. Worth, TX. I am so grateful for the continuous love she exudes and the generosity she has shown to myself, my kiddos and her entire family.
Best Man
I've known David since my junior year in high school, when he had joined the swim team late in the year due to getting injured on the basketball team. We first met on a bus on the way to a swim meet, where I promptly asked him "Who the hell are you?" and he promptly replied, "Well who the hell are you??". Needless to say, we didn't start off on the right foot ,but over time we developed a once-in-a-lifetime friendship that has stood the test of time. The memories we made together in high school, college and beyond are priceless and I'll never forget them. He is my brother from another mother and has always had my back, through thick and thin. Our loyalty to each other is unbreakable and I am honored to have him as my best man. Just don't get us talking about politics. :-)
Groomsman
Stephen and I go way back. We met when we worked together in 2000 at what was then called Motorola Semiconductor in Austin, TX. We almost instantly became great friends and he has remained one of my most trusted confidantes. Stephen has been an amazing constant in my life, regardless of how many days or weeks go by without talking. I have always admired his ethics and devotion to his friends and family, and I very grateful he and his beautiful wife Jeana are coming to our wedding.
Groomsman
I have been friends with Steven since my Sophomore year in high school, when he joined the swim team as a freshman. I have great memories of our swim practices and swim meets, he and I always made each other laugh (vacuum!!!). We also made many memories together outside of school, and I was honored to be a groomsman at his wedding to his beautiful wife Lynn many years ago. He is one of the most genuine and kind-hearted people I know and I am super excited that he will be one of my groomsman.
Groomsman
Shun is one of my brothers-in-law and is the epitome of what a family man should be. He has made my sister Laurie and their 5 kiddos the center of his life and is an amazing husband, father and role model to them. He served his country in the Army for many years and even now as a civilian continues to serve his country. I also consider Shun a close friend and always enjoy spending time with him when visiting. He is a good-hearted man and I am really glad he will be part of our celebration.
Groomsman
Kyle is not only my brother-in-law, but he is also a fellow Texas A&M University graduate (Whoop!). He and my younger sister Susan have created a great life for themselves and their two kiddos in TX. If you ever want to have a delicious home cooked meal, invite yourself over to Kyle's house in TX and he'll treat you to some delicious grub (typically from his backyard grill). Kyle has always been a great beer and whiskey drinking buddy and has introduced me to lots of craft beers. I am super happy he will be one of my groomsman. Just don't let him convince me to smoke a cigar before my wedding (like I did to him, doh!).
Groomsman
John and I worked together at a company called Cirrus Logic back when I was in Austin (he's still there!). We were friendly but not super close when we worked together (he was my manager the last year I was there). However, after I left we kept in touch and we even visited each other a few times after I moved to Washington. A bond was formed and now I consider him one of my closer and lifelong friends. John's a super chill and nice guy and I appreciate his friendship. He also happens to have an amazing better half who is a super nice and generous person. John and Andria, we can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you! Oh and John, stop sending me that damn pig picture!
Groomsman
Thon is my closest "running friend" from my marathon running days in Austin. We met when we first joined a running group called Gilbert's Gazelles, and he likes to remind me that when we first met he didn't think I had what it took to run a marathon. :-) Thankfully I not only proved him wrong but we also developed a close friendship as we ran so many 100's of miles together. He has always been a voice of reason and support in my life, regardless of how long it's been since we have spoken. I can't wait for him, Michele and Brodie to join us on this special occasion!
