Carla, living in Fall River, MA, and Michael, living in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ coincidentally booked the same cruise as part of a much-anticipated vacation week. Little did they know, it would be the last vacation they went on as single people. For Carla and her sister Ana, getting there was quite the story as well. A missed flight, an extra $1600 in connections, and a run to the luggage lost & found, were the 1st obstacles that had to be overcome before they arrived on the Oasis of the Seas. It almost didn't happen for these two. For Michael, having been a veteran cruise ship traveler, he and his comrades had arrived early at a Ft. Lauderdale hotel, enjoying a couple of stress-free nights before boarding. Both Carla and Michael eventually crossed paths on the 3rd night. Well, actually the 2nd, but for Michael, the 3rd night was the first interaction he truly remembered. His introduction was consistent. His heart was pure, so it was only a matter of time before they took their connection to the dance floor. For the rest of the week, they shared long talks, lots of jokes, and a deep curiosity about what the future could potentially have in store. Never did they exchange room numbers, last names, or even phone numbers. I mean they were on a cruise in the middle of nowhere. What would they do with phones? So, on the last night, Michael searched the boat to find his mystery dream girl. He stayed up late, woke up early, and napped in the hall he knew they were staying. He needed to at least see if the feeling was mutual to stay connected. He couldn't find her. But that doesn't mean he was ready to give up. He went to the airport early and ran through the terminals until he located his love. They smiled, exchanged information, and promised to stay connected. Perseverance, trust, support, communication, and friendship became the foundation of their story. Fast forward 10 yrs and here they both are, getting married and building on their incredible story.
It was a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon at the Heritage State Park in Sandwich, MA. It was Michaels' priority to find a place so beautiful and filled with hydrangeas representing the town of Furnas where Carla is from. Michael carefully planned this surprise proposal with a photographer and Carla's brother and sister. Upon arrival, Carla's favorite flowers were found dispersed among this gorgeous water fountain. Carla's brother, sister-in-law and the photographer were hiding behind a flower bush to capture the big moment. It was at that water fountain where Michael professed his love for Carla, going down on one knee asking: "Will you be my wife and spend a lifetime together?" Carla couldn't help but jump up and down shouting "YES". They spent the rest of the day informing some of their closest friends and family members of the big announcement. This day will forever be special, not only because of this engagement, but also because of the birth of Michael's niece Carina! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in New Jersey
