We’re married, let’s celebrate!

We met during a time when we were both taking a break from our careers and working in the bar and restaurant industry. One night, Carissa stopped into Seven Mile Post, where Hunter was working as a bouncer. She thought he was cute, grabbed a beer, and sat outside to see if she could talk to him while he checked people in. They ended up laughing and talking about random things, and Carissa may have had a second beer to keep the conversation going. As the bar got busier, they said a quick goodbye. Hunter didn’t get a chance to ask for her number, so later—armed with only her first name—he tracked her down through the ID scanning system and sent her a message on Instagram: “I think you’re cool. We should go out sometime.” Their first date was at Wilmington Brewing Company, where one drink turned into four hours of nonstop conversation. They lost track of time and the rest, as they say, is history.

Hunter and Carissa exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens surrounded by their immediate families and a few close friends. The morning began with Hunter and Carissa getting ready separately before sharing a heartfelt ceremony officiated by Hunter’s cousin, Nolan Crawford. Their nephew, Henry, served as ring bearer while their niece, Hallie, was the flower girl. Hunter and Carissa shared their own vows with one another. After spending time taking family photos, Hunter and Carissa captured portraits at the historic gardens and along Wrightsville Beach before heading to the Airbnb where they gathered with family to enjoy dinner, drinks, and a beautiful evening by the beach together. While they wished everyone could have been there to celebrate with them that day, they are so excited to celebrate with all of their favorite people at their reception.
