De Wet's famous pick up line that later turned him into a dog dad (and fiancé) was, "Hey, Cute Pup!" Little did he know, his first kiss would be shared with Franklin and not Carissa... He loves when Carissa shares this story! Carissa & De Wet bonded over their love of craft breweries and Carissa decided that De Wet's love for axe throwing did not make him a serial killer. Carissa eventually corrected De Wet that he was, in fact, NOT single in December when he made a comment followed by, "and that is why I am single." Despite Carissa not receiving a greeting card for Christmas that year, their relationship continued to grow and Franklin provided his lick of approval. Over the last 4 years, Carissa & De Wet have gone on so many fun adventures, both near and far, and cannot wait to continue their shenanigans as husband & wife!

Each year Carissa & De Wet take a trip in early December. This year the destination was Charleston, SC. One could say that De Wet had some tricks up his sleeve- or shirt pocket! While walking around Waterfront Park, De Wet veered towards Echo Rock and presented Carissa with a rock of her own! They loved calling each of our loved ones to share the news and then spent the rest of the weekend celebrating and exploring Charleston. The couple had never contemplated getting married in Charleston; De Wet threw out the idea that weekend and it stuck!
