For months we wanted to book a trip out of the country. After numerous conversations, we settled on our first out-of-country trip: St. Lucia, a small yet beautiful Caribbean island with all we could ask for. The trip was the perfect destination for our tastes, clear water, good food, nice people, and we were friends with a few locals. It could have been just a nice getaway for the two of us, but I decided to raise the stakes a little. I already asked her father for her hand in marriage, I had the ring...it was time to pop the question in St. Lucia! Planned already was a full-day tour of the island with different activities throughout. We would be going out to eat at some local spots, snorkeling, speedboat riding, and bathing in the sulfur springs. Everything was set except I was not sure which spot to propose at. So I entrusted that responsibility to our tour guide. Everywhere that we stopped, I would look in the rearview mirror and she'd look back at me to give a a nod or head shake. And then it started to rain, I thought my plans were ruined! We stopped at this spot, a balcony in front of the Pitons, the largest mountains in St. Lucia, a sight that only God could have crafted with his hands. I looked in the mirror, got the nod, grabbed the ring from my bookbag, and as soon as we stepped out of the car, God halted the rain and parted the clouds for the sun to shine on our big moment.
