>> FOOD and BEER << If you haven't tried a kolache, I highly recommend you do so! Batch has both sweet and savory versions. My favorite is the pepperoni but they have a good variety daily and it's always changing. So get there early for the best selection! And just like most establishments in Austin, outdoor seating!
The best time to witness the bats is around sunset, but the nightly show can take place anywhere from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. It can take as long as 45 minutes for all of the bats to exit the bridge for the night. Plan to arrive early in order to find parking and get your spot.
>> SHOPPING << This vibrant neighborhood south of Lady Bird Lake is a must-stroll for visitors and a popular hangout for locals. South Congress oozes homespun character and boasts the story of Austin’s yesteryear in its boutiques, eateries, galleries and music venues. http://www.doingthestreets.com/southcongress
>> HOPE OUTDOOR GALLERY << New Location: This public arts project launched in March 2010 at "The Foundation" - a failed condo development from the 1980's on Baylor St. in downtown Austin. With the help of contemporary artist Shepard Fairey and hundreds of participating artists this outdoor gallery concept became internationally known as the only art park of its kind in the USA. It was developed to provide muralists, street artists, arts education classes and community groups the opportunity to display outdoor art driven by inspirational, positive, and educational messaging.
