FAQs

The Wedding Website of Samantha Strohm and Cole Carey
Below are commonly asked questions for the big weekend. Should you have any other questions come up, please do not hesitate to ask!
Question

Is there a dress code for the ceremony & reception?

Answer

Yes, the dress code for our wedding is formal attire! For women, we recommend tea-length to full-length dresses. Elegant cocktail dresses, evening gowns, or sophisticated jumpsuits are all great options. Please avoid shades of white. For men, we suggest a suit, paired with a button-down shirt and tie. Feel free to add your own flair, but please keep it sophisticated and celebratory. We can’t wait to see everyone looking their best!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly ask our guests to arrive no later than 3:30 PM for the ceremony. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 PM, and arriving by 3:30 PM will allow you plenty of time to mingle with other guests and find your seat. Please note that late arrivals cannot be accommodated during the ceremony, so we encourage you to plan accordingly to ensure a timely arrival!

Question

Are photos or videos allowed during the ceremony?

Answer

We kindly ask that all guests refrain from taking photos or videos during the ceremony. We’re having an unplugged ceremony so everyone can be fully present in the moment with us. Don’t worry—our professional photographer will capture all the special moments, and we’ll be thrilled to share those with you after the big day! Thank you for your understanding.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We’re so excited to celebrate with you! While we’d love to host everyone, we kindly ask that only those listed on the invitation join us on our special day. If your invitation includes a “plus one,” we would be thrilled for you to bring a guest. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We adore your little ones! However, due to wedding venue age restrictions and space limitations, we can only accommodate children who are listed on the invitation. Thank you for understanding, and we hope you enjoy a special night out with us!

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, there is on-site parking available at the venue for the ceremony and reception. That said, because we’ll have an open bar and many hours of partying, we encourage everyone to plan ahead for a safe ride home. Whether it’s a designated driver or a rideshare service, we want all our guests to get home safely after celebrating with us! Any vehicle left on the property must be retrieved between 8:00-11:00am the day after the wedding.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

We are looking into possible transportation options. The ceremony and reception will be at one location, so no need to arrange for transportation in between! Any updates on provided transportation will be added to the Travel page of our website if/when those details are finalized.

Question

Is there an open bar at the wedding?

Answer

Yes! Drinks are on us—hangovers are on you! Enjoy the open bar, but please pace yourselves, because while we’ll be serving up the fun, we can’t help with the aftermath. Cheers to a great night and maybe a little aspirin the morning after!

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

The main event is Saturday—the wedding day! However, we are hosting a welcome party on Friday evening that we would love for you to attend if you will be in town. Details are available on the Schedule page. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes! We have arranged 2 hotel room blocks for our guests at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront (about 20-25 minutes from the venue). Links for booking rooms in the blocks, as well as other hotel recommendations, can be found on the "Travel" page of this site.

Question

Is there a dress code for the welcome party?

Answer

Yes, there is a dress code for our welcome party. To bring a little Texas to the beach, we are kindly requesting ranch formal attire for the welcome party. For women, we recommend cocktail to full-length dresses, or skirts/dress pants and a blouse. Think flowy dresses in earthy or floral patterns. Boots or heels encouraged. Please avoid shades of white. For men, we suggest a sport jacket, paired with a button-down shirt, jeans, and boots. Dress pants and dress shoes can be worn as well if that is more your style!
