It was a warm spring afternoon in Burlington, Massachusetts. As the daffodils blossomed and the scents of fresh cut grass at Rahanis park filled the air, a seedling of love was also planted that fateful day. Tennis was the game and after a grueling practice, Chris approached Alysse, who was perched on a picnic table, eating a snack. “Hey, you have really nice eyes, can I have your screen name?” he swooned as she blushed and giggled with a nervous demeanor. “Sorry, my mom won’t let me talk to boys online.” Devastated, Chris retreated, and hibernated the thoughts of love for an eternal 15 years. Fast forward to 2016, with the advent of social media, Chris found his long lost ‘love’. A friend request and story reply is what sparked life into this romance saga. “Wow, those gingerbread cookies look great! Want to grab a drink sometime?” A man with his end goal in mind made it clear- I will never back down. As the clock struck midnight ringing in 2017, Chris was performing a vocal rendition of “Whole lotta love” on stage when he glanced at his phone. ‘339 area code- could it be!?’ He thought to himself as he quickly set his bass guitar down and anxiously opened the message. It was her, his true love, Alysse Shannon Carew. Alas! Love on the horizon, he quickly secured a date at the Rosebud Diner in Davis Square. When they met in person, his heart pounded out of his chest, she walked up to the foyer of the restaurant in her toasty peacoat and then clicking her wedges on the brick sidewalk. “Nice to meet you!” She exclaimed “Good to see you” he murmured. Had she forgotten the magical spring day in the twilight of the early 2000’s?! Impossible, she was nervous and they both chuckled awkwardly entering the building. Trivia night made it for an easy first date. They gossiped about Burlington fodder and caught up while they played the parlor game over libations. As the evening came to a close, they walked along side one another. Looking for words to break up the silence. They locked eyes and leaned in for a first kiss, in front of Peoples First United Bank. An American love story in the making. The vault of his heart swung open, ready to bank his love for her in the days to come. As the days marched on their love blossomed like the very same daffodils they first met in front of. Ski trips and nights making pasta are how they first explored their love for eachother. The birth of Penne Bolognese in the summer of 2017 forged their love to the next level. Caring for this docile creature brought them closer than ever. The spring of 2019 they decided it was the right time to domicile in unity, moving to Windham NH, where they still live today. After the harrowing global events that dominated daily life for nearly 2 years, they were sure they could make it through anything together. Alysse, working as an ICU nurse, gave Chris perspective on how selfless and thoughtful she really was. An aspiring penile implant salesman could not fathom the patience and virtue she demonstrated on a daily basis. They supported eachother unconditionally and knew this was what love and marriage was really about. On the eve of 2022, Chris finally popped the question in the white mountains, with a ring, a poem, and a bottle of champagne. We are so excited to celebrate our special Union of love at Owls Nest in the White Mountains and can’t wait to see everyone who have helped shape our lives!
