My first encounter with Andres was back in 2016, at the hospital, where I was a volunteer and he was working as a patient transporter at the time. I was helping a good friend of ours study for their Biology test when Andres had walked in. Throwing Andres off his feet, our friend had asked him a pop question; 'What is the power source of the cell called?' His response was 'the mitochondria' -- that was the first, but definitely not the last time Andres took me by surprise. A few months go by and after numerous eye contacts, occasional nods, and smiles; who would have thought God was going to change our lives for the better. On New Year's Day 2017, after the new year greetings, the fireworks, and the kissing on the TV screens; I remember thinking, how will God change my life this year? That same night, within that same hour, Andres had found me on Instagram and sent me an instant message. (I guess you can say he 'slid into my DMs') and greeted me with a happy new year -- God was already on the move. I still recall our first date at a restaurant down by the water. I ordered my favorite sushi rolls and he ordered duck - I remember thinking, who would order duck on their first date? Of course, Andres never ceases to amaze me. Our hours of talking and getting to know one another became days, which then became months, and now 5 years later. Growing up I have always prayed to have a relationship like my mother and father's- a loving and Godly relationship. When I first met Andres, I knew God was up to something good. The years behind Andres and I have not been easy, but one thing I know for sure- is that God has shown His love to us and through one another. No matter how difficult or challenging our path got, God remained our Rock. The best part of our relationship isn't just that we balance and equal one another, but it is our willingness and eagerness to complete God's purpose and to pursue Him, above anything else. Safe to say- Andres was the easiest 'yes' I could say.
