Jordan and Makayla knew of one other through Makayla's sister being married to Jordan's second cousin. They all go to the same church, and Jordan and Makayla would say Hi and maybe have a small conversation, as his family and Makayla's sister were often around each other. Makayla's thoughts about Jordan were always that he as very sweet and very cute, but often thought there could never be a possibility of anything happening between the two of them. One Sunday during church, Makayla and Jordan were sitting very close to each other, close enough to touch shoulders. Makayla, psyching herself up, thought "Oh my goodness we are touching, what does this mean," and went home thinking it probably didn't mean anything, but wishing it did! The following Sunday after church Makayla, her sister Shyanne and her husband Brandon were going to have lunch at Five Guys. On the way there, Makayla had gotten into a small car accident and while the three of them were talking to the other guy involved in the wreck, Jordan and his sister, Tiffany, had pulled up in the lane beside them and saw what had happened. A little later after the wreck had happened, Makayla looked at her phone and realized she had gotten a message from Jordan. She thought it very interesting, because they NEVER talked outside of being at church. The message was very sweet and thoughtful, and Jordan didn't think it would go any further then a "Thank you" from Makayla. Little did he know, Makayla would then carry on the conversation, getting more information about Jordan, and would continue to have conversations with him daily for about a week before he asked her to be his girlfriend! Even after that, they've talked everyday since.

Jordan and Makayla had started talking about getting married and looking at rings. She would often try to get details out of him on when we was going to propose, if he had bought a ring yet, or if he had asked her dad. Celebrating 6 months of dating was coming up very fast, and here is how that day went! The day before their plans to have dinner, Jordan told Makayla that he had a surprise for after dinner, but would not give any more details. The chilly and cloudy morning of July 28th, 2022, Jordan and Makayla got Chick-fil-a for breakfast, as they had often done for morning dates on their days off. Next stop, Top Golf, where they spent nearly 4 hours playing different games and hitting golf balls as far and as best as they could. Jordan then asked Makayla what she wanted to do before their dinner date. She wanted to go for a drive (one of her favorite things to do) through Garden of The Gods, to which Jordan's response wasn't the most excited, yet still said, "Okay, that's fine," (explanation on this, later)! They took that drive, got lunch and went to his house to watch a movie, and hung out before getting ready for their fancy dinner. The time had come! Jordan and Makayla, feeling VERY nervous and excited, got ready and headed to dinner at The Melting Pot, where Jordan had made reservations a week in advance. Upon their arrival, the staff was so sweet to put a greeting card on their table, signed by all the staff, saying Happy Anniversary! They got their cheese fondue and finished fast, because it was so yummy! Then came the chocolate fondue, brought out with complementary champagne, and a plate drizzled with chocolate, sparkly sprinkles, and drizzled "Cheers to Date Night." We were both shocked; this was so sweet of them! As Jordan kept looking at his watch, Makayla got suspicious and asked if they needed to be somewhere at a certain time. He replied, "yeah, we need to leave by 6:30ish." Soon, that time came and they left. He put a destination into his phone map, but had it muted and kept away from Makayla's view. She got so excited/nervous and was fidgety the whole ride. As they were coming close to the place he had planned, she thought she knew exactly where they were going! Then ….took a turn (when he didn't have to) and made her so confused. Turns out, he drove to the same place that Makayla wanted to drive through earlier that day (which was why Jordan responded the way he did earlier). Jordan drove into Garden Of the Gods a little ways and pulls off behind this truck. Makayla looks at it and thinks to herself, "Why is Brandon's truck here." Jordan says, "I know you've been wanting a photoshoot with me for awhile, so your sister is here to do that." Makayla got so giddy and nervous but had the happiest, and biggest, smile (thinking this could be it)! As they were taking photos, at one point Shyanne tells Jordan and Makayla to stand back to back. Then tells Jordan to take a step forward, and for Makayla to stay there. As Makayla stood there, it gave Jordan time to get the ring out and get down on one knee. "Makayla turn and face Jordan!" She turned and was so excited! He starts to say what he had planned ahead of time, but got emotionally choked up, paused, and then looks up at her and just jumped right to the question, "Will you marry me?" Makayla quickly says "YES!" (thinking it's about dang time!) and did not hesitate to hug him! After hugging and giving him a kiss, Jordan then slipped on the ring and it fit PERFECTLY! Makayla got the ring of her dreams! After taking a few more photos, they go on back to Jordan's house, Makayla thinking they were going to hang out and watch a movie until she had to go home. WRONG! She was wrong. They walk into the house where it was dead silent, she looks into the kitchen and sees champagne, glasses, and cheese cake. She slowly walks in and is stunned with a big "SURPRISE!" from all the family on both sides! Well done, Jordan, with such an amazing day!
