it was love at first swipe! I was at Bradford beach playing volleyball with friends and on a break between games, I checked my phone and opened up Bumble. I had very recently downloaded the new dating app solely for fun. I had several friends using it and the bios they would send me were hilarious so I thought it would be fun to see what funny bios people had in my area. Well we swiped on and each other and as soon as I saw the match, I messaged him right away (who could resist that adorable smile?). We chatted for a couple hours on and off and when my games were over and I was heading home there was a shooting and I just happened to be less than 100 feet from the entire thing. I was messaging him a play by play of this insane scenario enfolding and asked him to watch the news and let me know what they were saying about it later that night. The next night (Monday) we met for our first date to grab drinks at Cafe Hollander in Wauwatosa. He said he had to work late but didn't want to wait to meet me so we met at 10:30pm. We hit it off (obviously) and when they closed at midnight we went outside and walked over to this bridge that goes over a river right next to the restaurant. He put his arm around me and asked me if he could kiss me (what a gentleman, right?), and we had our first kiss. Neither of us wanted to leave each other yet so we decided to go for a long walk around Tosa until 1:30am. When we decided to go back to our homes for the night, we ended up texting until after 4am, even though we both had to work the next day. We've pretty much been inseparable ever since ❤️
On December 16th, I started a new job and the job I was leaving asked me to stay on part time and work nights training my replacement for a few weeks. This was a very stressful time as I was working from 7:30am to 9:30-10pm every night of the week for 3 weeks. Tony was having a hard time finding time when he could pop the question because of this crazy work schedule I agreed to. The week of Christmas, he knew I only had 3 days of working those crazy hours before the holidays so he asked if we could go to dinner on the night before Christmas Eve. I was oblivious because even though I knew he was going to ask and I knew he was designing a ring for me, I didn't think he had it yet or that it was finished being made. We got kinda dressed up (It was freezing that day so I was NOT wearing a dress) and went to dinner at a restaurant right next to where we had our first date. As we were walking across the bridge where we shared our first kiss, he got down on his knee and proposed. To which I believe I said "of course!"
