The Oxford Square is very lively and has lots of classic Southern restaurants, locally owned shops, and great bookstores. Many of the buildings on the Square, as well as some surrounding houses, are great examples of Mississippi Antebellum architecture.

Rowan Oak is the home of author William Faulkner. It is right by the University of Mississippi campus and the Oxford Square. It can be accessed via car, or even better, by a path through the woods from the Buie-Skipwith Museum.
