We met at a party back in 2016. Brian was coming back to California from working in Florida for six months. He asked one of our mutual friends if she knew of a "good girl" to set him up with. She, of course, said yes! Brian was too shy to talk to me in person throughout the whole party, but as I was leaving, he asked, "Where are you going?" The next day I get a direct message on Instagram from Brian. After messaging back and forth together for a few weeks, he finally asked me out. We had our first date at San Antonio Winery and then walked around Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Since our first date was at San Antonio, it seems we always enjoy fun times at wineries - I guess you can say we are a "vino couple". For the first couple of years together, Brian and I were doing the long distance relationship as he was living in Lancaster and I in Montrose. By April, 2019 we had moved into our first townhome together with our dogs in Canyon Country and the rest is history. Now after 5 years, we are finally getting married.
We woke up on Christmas morning 2019 full of excitement because we finally got to open presents. We raced down stairs with our dogs Bear and Stitches. As Cara was looking for all her gifts, I said “Hold on babe. I left my phone upstairs. I’ll be right back.” I ran upstairs to get her ring. I was nervous and excited as I walked back down to the Christmas tree. Cara was still looking for all her presents. I kneeled down behind her and as she turned around, I popped the question. “Will you marry me?”. It took her a second to say "yes" because she was in shock that I surprised her. All she could say was "Wait are you serious?" She cried and then said “Yes!!”
