Nathan & Cara actually met via the dating app called "Plenty of Fish". Instead of using a typical pick up line in his initial message, Nathan decided to ask Cara a question about her views on a legal decision made by the Supreme Court. It meant that he had actually taken the time to read her profile and found that they both had degrees in Legal Studies as undergraduates. Nathan & Cara started talking via messenger and then on the phone almost every day for a month before they decided to meet in person. Their first meeting took place over Memorial Day Weekend of 2014. On that first occasion, Cara's best friend, Jeanna (also the Matron of Honor), was present the entire time... and the three played F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Scene It after discovering they were all super fans of the TV Show. From that point forward, Nathan and Cara were pretty much inseparable. It was not longer after that they officially started dating.

Cara and Nathan had been living together for several years before they got engaged. With the help of Cara’s family and friends, Nathan was able to surprise Cara and propose at her childhood home (Judy’s House - Mother of the Bride). She was taken on day of pampering with her best friend, Jeanna, to make sure she was not around for the set up. Once she arrived she was greeted by Nathan standing in the middle of a candle walkway in the shape of a heart. As Cara approached Nathan, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran (the song they will dance to for their first dance at the wedding) was performed live by Adam, a professional musician who had been hired by Nathan for the occasion. Nathan then got down on one knee and finally popped the question! Cara was so excited, said yes and before Nathan even knew it, the ring was on her finger! The two then danced to the rest of song together, sharing their “Perfect” moment. However, the surprise was far from over! Nathan had their family and friends already waiting inside the house to celebrate and share a meal together, consisting of all Cara’s favorite foods. The celebration lasted late into the night, with more friends and family showing up later on during a back yard bonfire to celebrate and congratulate the couple on their engagement! It was truly an amazing occasion that will forever live in their memories!
