Tore and Alyssa’s story began in the heart of the Low Country—Charleston, South Carolina—in June of 2020. Alyssa had just made her first big move away from home, accepting a civilian job on Joint Base Charleston. Tore, fresh off his first sea tour in Yokosuka, Japan, was assigned to the same base. While most of the world was navigating strict COVID lockdowns, Tore and Alyssa found themselves living in a little love bubble. Days were filled with morning hellos at work, evenings spent grilling at Tore’s downtown apartment with rooftop views of Charleston, and weekend strolls along Sullivan’s Island—always ending with frosé in hand. They discovered a shared love of food (and Alyssa’s love of finding the best vibes), and quickly became inseparable partners in culinary crime—hunting down hidden gems, trying new restaurants, or getting a little too excited during Trader Joe’s runs. What started as casual hangouts during a chaotic time soon turned into something much deeper. The Low Country didn’t just become home—it became the backdrop of a love story neither of them expected but both fully embraced.

After falling in love in Charleston, life—and the Navy—led Tore and Alyssa further down the East Coast to Jacksonville, Florida. This move marked a new milestone: their very first apartment together. A fresh chapter, in a sunny new city. Jacksonville turned out to be a gem in its own right. The weather was always on their side, the beaches were peaceful and lowkey, and the people were warm and easygoing—just like the pace of life they were starting to build together. Within their first few months, they accomplished a mission only true enthusiasts could take on: completing the Jax Ale Trail, visiting over 30 breweries across the city. It was fitting for two foodies turned beer buffs. But perhaps the most important addition to their life in Jacksonville was their furriest one—Jax. Named after the city where they began building their life together, Jax quickly became their pride and joy. A little introverted, fiercely loyal, and happiest when curled up with his people, he completed their little trio.

Tore and Alyssa arrived at the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island, Florida, ready for a relaxing weekend together—just the two of them (for the first time ever without their son, Jax 🐩). Greeted with champagne and an oceanfront view, it already felt like a dream. Alyssa, who is known for convincing Tore to wake up early and catch the sunrise, was once again dragging him out of bed to enjoy the golden hour on the balcony. As she changed her outfit for the seventh time—okay, maybe the eighth—and finished her hair and makeup for the “free photo session” Tore had conveniently scheduled, she had no idea what was coming. Stepping onto the balcony to snap a quick sunrise picture, Alyssa turned around and saw Tore down on one knee, smiling with the kind of joy that makes your heart skip. The surprise proposal couldn’t have been more perfect—and it was the easiest yes ever. Unbeknownst to Alyssa, the photo session Tore planned wasn’t just for fun, it was for their engagement pictures. Whether it’s strolling to the grocery store, heading to church on a Sunday, or grabbing dinner at one of their favorite local restaurants, everything they need is just steps away. One of their favorite places to explore is the nearby state park, where they often go for beach walks, bike rides, and quiet escapes into nature. And just down the road? Their future wedding venue. It’s not uncommon to find Alyssa scouting out the latest fresh flower display at the iconic Cavalier Hotel, with Tore happily tagging along—especially if there’s an Old Fashioned involved afterward. 🥃🍊 This little beach town has become the setting for their current chapter, filled with simplicity, sunshine, and a whole lot of love.
