The Montauk Point Lighthouse is a historic icon located at the very tip of Long Island, offering sweeping 360° views over the Atlantic, Block Island Sound, and western horizons. Built in 1796 under authorization by President George Washington, it is the first lighthouse in New York State and one of the oldest still operational in the U.S. Visitors can climb 137 steps to the top of the tower, explore the museum and exhibits featuring maritime history and the heritage of Montauk, and enjoy the beautiful grounds.

For our guests who enjoy golf, we highly recommend Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course, one of the top public courses in New York. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., it’s known for its challenging layout, rolling fairways, and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Montauk. Tee Times: Reservations are required and can be booked up to 7 days in advance through the New York State Parks website or by phone. Course Info: 18-hole, par 72 championship course. It’s best for experienced golfers, but still enjoyable for all skill levels. Amenities: Driving range, pro shop, and a clubhouse with food and drinks available. Location: About 10 minutes from Montauk village and easily accessible from most local hotels. If you’re planning to golf during your stay, we recommend booking early—weekend tee times fill quickly, especially around holiday weekends.
