Our Story

Kayla and Anthony met in their last year at UC San Diego in 2016. Kayla, the law school hopeful studying intensely for her entrance exam, would have never normally crossed paths with Anthony, the dedicated student-athlete. Luckily, with the development of modern technology and dating applications, the two “swiped right” on each other during their senior year in 2016. What drew Anthony to Kayla’s dating profile? Kayla put a disclaimer in her bio section that read, “If you don’t know what a PR (personal record) is, then swipe left!” She was an avid powerlifter, pushing her limits to keep adding weight to the barbell. Anthony, a javelin thrower on the track team, knew all about PR’s and was always looking to add distance to his throw. Naturally, Anthony messaged Kayla saying, “My life literally revolves around PR’s.” The two met up for coffee and the rest was history...right? Nope. For the next 3 months, the two got to know each other very well over dinner dates at local San Diego eats, long walks around campus, and the rare study session. With graduation right around the corner, they didn’t feel that it was the right time for a long-distance relationship because Anthony was moving back to the Bay Area and Kayla had law school plans that could’ve taken her anywhere in the state. Once they graduated, they drifted apart. Very far apart. In fact, the two didn’t speak to each other for the next THREE YEARS. As fate would have it, Kayla got into UC Hastings Law School and moved to San Francisco, a quick drive from Anthony’s hometown of Pacifica. In March 2019, Anthony decided to EMAIL Kayla to see how she was doing. A wary Kayla responded because… who uses email to reconnect with people these days? Nonetheless, it was apparent that the bond they shared in college never went away. There was zero doubt in their minds that this was something special. Fast forward 4 years, here they are planning to celebrate their forever with their closest friends and family.
