How We Met

5-30-2020

We first met on the dating site, Bumble. It started with Erin commenting on Chris's nice smile. Texting turned into a first date on FaceTime, since ya know...Covid. We spent hours on that Facetime, talking and swapping stories about our amazing friends and family. We knew we needed to see each other in person so the next day, Chris made his way down to Cape Cod to meet Erin and drive along the picturesque Route 6A. We took a beach walk at our now favorite beach, Cold Storage Beach. Chris learned pretty quickly that Erin takes beach walks at a leisurely power walking pace. He left that date with bleeding feet but we both left that date knowing this was the start of something special.

How He Proposed

9-18-2021

Murphy's law: if anything can go wrong, it will. Not the normal kind of phrase you hear at the beginning of a proposal story, but hear us out. Chris had been planning on proposing to Erin since May but was still trying to iron out the perfect proposal. When Erin told Chris that Cape Cod St. Patrick's Day Parade was being held in September, after being rescheduled due to Covid, he knew this would be his opportunity. Erin LOVES St. Patrick's Day. It's actually her favorite holiday! Chris told Erin that he would love to have all of their friends and family come down for an open house following the parade. On the day of the event, Chris asked Erin if he could head home early from the parade to go prep the appetizers. Erin, in her glory of St. Patrick's Day festivities, said absolutely not but finally, and very reluctantly, agreed. The parade ended a short time after Chris left, so Erin and her sister, Sarah, headed back to the house to prepare for all the guests coming. To her surprise, Erin arrived home to no Chris. While guests started to arrive, Erin called Chris but he was not answering his phone. Chris was in fact at the jeweler's having a bit of a freak out following a misunderstanding and a missing ring- since Chris knew Erin would find any of his hiding places, he had asked his jewler to keep the ring safe for him to pick up on the day of the proposal. Thankfully the jeweler was able to locate the ring but it would not be there for another hour. Knowing Erin was most likely very upset with him since he was missing and not answering his phone, Chris headed back to the house and with one of his mother's rings, he proposed to Erin in front of her family. He then re-proposed to Erin with her real ring in front of all of our close family and friends. A day full of surprises, laughter, and joy. Slainte!
