How did this all start?

08/12/2018

Well this is a little complicated. Let’s hash it out. You see, Nick was coming down to DC with his friends Blair & Kate for their friends Adam & Ally’s engagement party. Nick was staying with Adam & Ally, but they were off spending the afternoon hunting for a new couch. The right couch proved elusive, and the search stretched past Nick’s arrival time, so he decided to tag along with Blair & Kate for a drink with their host for the weekend, Molly Canty. When Nick walked in, Molly instantly fell deeply in love, they ran off into the sweltering DC sun, and lived happily ever after without a care in the world…

How did it really start?

08/12/2018

Alright so there was a bit more to it. Nick & Molly had known each other from college, but not particularly well. They chatted over drinks with friends that afternoon, and then exchanged numbers so they could hang out as a group later. By the end of the weekend, Nick was still completely clueless as to any interest on Molly’s part. She had been eyeing him a bit at brunch that Sunday, but he assumed it was because the air conditioning unit above his seat was sporadically dripping on him, and thought little of it. It was only when they began texting the following day, that Nick realized that perhaps she wasn’t looking at the falling condensation after all. Approximately 1 billion texts later, Nick asked Molly to grab dinner with him in New York City when she was next in Connecticut…

How was the first date in NYC?

08/26/18

Well...they didn’t quite make it that long. Over the course of the billion texts, Nick & Molly both realized that waiting 2 weeks to go on their first date just wasn’t going to cut it. Nick began to formulate a plan for a DC visit, but his trusty Monte Carlo decided to explode on a routine trip to Wawa, and he was left without a car. Molly wasn’t about to let a thing like logistics get in her way. With the aid of some red wine, she worked up the courage to suggest they meet at a logical mid-point for a date: Philadelphia. Molly hopped on the train, and Nick was there waiting, with soft pretzels of course. They proceeded to wander aimlessly for a casual 9 hours, talking, eating, and eventually sharing a first kiss at Philadelphia’s most glass filled art installation, Magic Gardens.

How did the engagement go down?

10/05/19

Nick recreated their first DC date! They took a trip out to Virginia to Great Country Farms for some apple picking. The weather was nice, the apples were plentiful, and despite a temporary setback when the farm ran out of their famed apple cider donuts, they had a lovely afternoon. After a few hours, they continued across the road to their favorite Virginia winery, Bluemont. They grabbed a bottle of Norton wine, and found a nice spot on a hillside nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, looking out on the valley below. Nick pulled out Molly's mom’s ring, said some charming things, Molly said yes, and then accidentally broke the cork in the wine bottle. It was a moment in time almost too perfect for words. They do happen, and they are wonderful.
