The Story of Us

A Word From Us To the people in this world that we love most, we are so excited to share our love and to celebrate it with each one of you! As we update this website throughout all of the fun planning this year, we figured there is no better place to tell you the story of us and how our journey has brought us to this moment. How We Met John and Katie met in the summer of 2015 at their local Prigel Family Creamery. Katie and her family had just moved into town and her family encouraged her to get a job there to make friends in this new place. Katie’s parents had visited the Creamery prior to their move and John was the person scooping their ice cream! Mom’s tend to know best, and Brooke proved it when she convinced Katie to apply there so she could work along side the “cute boy” they had met. Our First Date As John and Katie began working more shifts together, learning more about each other each time, their crushes grew and grew. Anyone that knew Katie knew that she was smitten. Finally one night in the summer of 2016, John offered to drive Katie home and she worked up the nerve to ask him on a date. On August 19, 2016 they had their first date to an Orioles game. Neither one of them could tell you now who won. They spent the entire night absorbed in conversation and laughter. From the first date on, John and Katie spent every second they could together. They love cooking, trying new restaurants, watching movies, playing card games and just driving around back roads talking about life. They had finally found someone to be their complete goofy, cheesy, weird selves with. The Proposal On August 19, 2021 John left home after telling Katie he was going to visit his family. After he had gone, Katie was cleaning and found an envelope taped to their front door. Inside the envelope was the first of many clues that led her on a trip down memory lane. Each stop was a place that held so much meaning to her and John throughout their entire relationship. Katie finally caught onto what this scavenger hunt was leading to after reading the last clue. “I’m waiting under a weeping willow with a question to ask, a beautiful blast from the past.” She drove in tears to John’s family farm in Baldwin, Maryland where he had grown up. As she parked the car she saw the big weeping willow, where the two had always dreamed about getting married. John met her underneath the tree and handed her a final envelope that read “Will you marry me?” And of course she said “YES!”.
