Flight
For our international friends who are kindly flying in to celebrate with us, we recommend flying into Paris. From there you can get on connecting flights or the train (TGV) down to La Rochelle, the city on the mainland. For friends coming to join us from Europe and who can benefit from low-cost airlines, Easyjet flies regularly during the summer to La Rochelle, the main city on the mainland. Other airports nearby are Bordeaux or Nantes, from which you can take the train down to La Rochelle.
Train
TGV booking from Paris to La Rochelle = approx 2h30 From Bordeaux = 2h30
Travel Note
Conveniently, you can catch regular buses (Les Mouettes) from La Rochelle train station to a number of villages on the island! Et voila! L'aventure commence....

Travel Note
Airbnb exists on the island so do check it out although you might find that they only take weekly reservations. Other accommodations include a variety of 'Campings' around the island (mobile homes, mini lodges etc) and Chambres d'Hotes - BnBs. If you have any questions or need any help, please don't hesitate to text us (loop both Pierre and Candice because Candice's reply rate is shockingly awful).
