Our Story

A Baltimore Love Story

If you’ve ever asked us how we met, you’ve probably caught the funny looks and smirks we exchange because our versions don’t quite match. What we do agree on is that we met at a bar in Baltimore. Karrs was out with friends when Candice walked in to meet hers. On her way in, one of Karrs’s friends paid her a compliment. Taking his chance, Karrs jumped in to introduce himself. From there, the stories start to diverge. Later that night, Karrs swears Candice drifted closer to him (she insists she absolutely did not) and gave him “the eyes”. After putting on the charm, he left with her number and followed up for a few days with a string of unanswered texts…until he finally sent the cheeky classic “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” by Soulja Boy…and landed a first date. That first date was filled with smiles and laughter, and before long they were spending weekends exploring Baltimore together: rating gin martinis around the city, strolling through winter light installation gardens, cheering on the Ravens (and enduring the losses), and weaving their families, friends, and pets into the mix – Karrs spending time with Cabo and Lucas, Candice slowly but surely winning over Kia. After about a year of dating, they made it official. Not long after, Karrs’s job took him to Alexandria, VA. Months of back-and-forth drives later, he asked Candice to move in. For the following Christmas, Karrs surprised Candice with tickets to the Ravens vs. Texans game in Houston where Beyoncé was performing the halftime show. The night before the game, he had one more surprise. At the Houston Botanic Garden’s holiday light installation, Candice was wandering in awe when she suddenly spotted her best friend Amy and his best friend Ely on the path. She turned to find Karrs on one knee. Without hesitation, she said, “Yes, of course.”
