10/21/2017 It all started one brisk fall night. New to town, Candice arrived at Bear Creek Distillery to meet up with a co-worker who had organized a bar crawl. Josh was convinced to join as well, even though he was fresh off a plane and hungover from a friend’s wedding. Candice couldn’t help noticing how handsome this man was as he walked toward her end of the bar. And to this day, Josh can still tell you what Candice was wearing that first night. After a few brief introductions, they began talking more as they sipped on their drinks. It was an instant connection! They chatted all night getting to know one another, even while Josh was kicking Candice’s butt at Golden Eye on N64 at a bar called Grandma’s House. Towards the end of the night, they ended up getting separated from the rest of the group in a swarm of dancing and music. They made their way over to a bar to refill their drinks, where they ended up sharing their first kiss! As the night wound down, Candice was debating between driving the 30-45 minutes back to her apartment or paying the overcharged expense of an Uber home. Being the gentleman he is, Josh offered Candice a place to crash for the night that was right around the corner. Although skeptical at first, Candice agreed and joined Josh at his place. To her surprise, Josh pulled away mid-kiss to inform Candice in a very serious tone that they were NOT hooking up that night. Laughing, Candice agreed, and they drifted off to sleep.

1/24/2021 It was the day of the AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Candice was proudly wearing her Buffalo Bills shirt, and Josh was wearing his KC Chiefs Jersey, as they grabbed their snowboards and headed for the mountains. The plan was to have a morning of snowboarding with friends at one of their favorite spots, Loveland Resort, before going and watching the playoff game. They spent the morning on the slopes, taking in the beautiful views and crisp mountain air. After a few hours, Josh asked Candice if she wanted to take their typical snowboarding picture at the top of the run before continuing. After finding a good spot away from the larger crowds, Candice turned to take the picture. Josh was standing facing her with a velvet box in hand. He got down on one knee and took Candice’s shaking hand in his own to ask her if she wanted to continue their journey together as he opened the box to reveal an engagement ring! Hands shaking from excitement and cold, she of course said ‘YES’! They enjoyed a few congratulations from their friends that were kind enough to capture the moment; and then headed off for a few more runs!
