The Chase: We met through #Instagram. He was definitely the pursuer and I was merely just scrolling through my timeline and decided to #doubletap his early morning breakfast post of fried bologna ("it's a Southern thing"). He must have clearly took interest to my IG mugshot and decided to scroll through my pictures, because he then hit me with " You're so beautiful. Are you taken?". The First Date: He had invited me to a baseball game that he was playing in but we somehow never made it. We ended up at TGIFriday's instead having lunch, laughing and talking. The Catch: So a week passes by and we probably talked on the phone or through text messages everyday until the next time we would see each other. He had invited me over for dinner and he did all of the cooking (home-made bang bang shrimp and they were delicious). It was nothing over the top just dinner, candles and great conversation. We both had made it clear that we were just looking for friendship; somehow we found love instead. It's safe to safe we never spent another weekend apart after that.
Let's just say that Jeffrey is the mastermind behind surprises and thinking outside of the box when it comes to special occasions. It's my birthday weekend and I wasn't looking to do anything extra, basically just being with him was all that mattered. He had planned for us to go to Carowinds with his daughter (our princess) and her friend. We were returning home on Sunday and he told me that I had one more surprise for my birthday and that was it. We get back to Durham and he blind-folded me and told me he was taking me somewhere. We ended up at my sister and brother-in-law's home for a surprise birthday cookout that he had put together with all of our family and closest friends. Everyone is gathered around and we are about to bless the food when Jeffrey demands that I give a "Thank You" speech to everyone that came out to share in the day (I mean, I was going to do it; just not right then. LOL!) So as I'm in the middle of everyone, expressing how grateful I was for everyone being there, I hear all the aahhhhsss.... and clapping..... and I immediately turn around looking to find him down on one knee with the ring in his hand. I instantly dropped to the floor and the tears began to fall. My King had finally asked me to spend the rest of my life with him!
