After dinner he refused dessert, even after it was offered for free. Candice was now very suspicious. He was anxious to leave and very aware of the ring box in his pocket. He did honor her wishes and kept a very private proposal, with no witnesses or pictures. Always the traditionalist, Alan found the perfect location on the bluff, got down on one knee, and used Candice's full name to propose. She said, "Of course."
