Things to Do

The Wedding Website of Claire Cambardella and Chris Attenborough
Cacapon state park is a place we went during our first year of knowing each other. Both of our families went on vacations here when we were kids, and despite the power going out and a faulty fireplace setting off the smoke alarm, and Claire forgetting butter to cook her eggs on that first trip together, we've been back several times and thought it would be a nice place to spend a weekend with friends and family. They've also upgraded the cabins and lodge since then. Some things you might enjoy doing:
Question

Swimming

Answer

Lakefront swimming is available at the Cacapon Resort State Park lake Tuesday through Sunday. Summer beach hours are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Entrance to the beach area is at the upper Ticket Booth at the Bathhouse. Access through the Snack Bar area is curtailed at this time. Visitors requiring ADA access should enter via the lower snack bar. The Lodge has an indoor pool and Nearby Berkeley Springs State Park also has an outdoor swimming pool.

Question

Hiking

Answer

There are 23 miles of hiking on 9 different trails throughout the park. No need to worry about getting lost, as hiking guides are available at the park office- make sure to grab a map when you check-in! Each trail offers a different physical challenge depending on skill levels, so there’s something for everyone.

Question

Sport

Answer

Game courts are available at Cacapon for tennis, basketball, sand volleyball, fishing, wobble clay shooting, disc golf, mountain biking, and golf golf. Drive (rough road!) up to the observation deck on Cacapon Mountain for a unique opportunity to see views of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania all at once.

Question

Horses

Answer

Triple-C Outfitters at Cacapon Resort offers guided horseback riding for guests. This family-operated riding stable has been in business for more than 22 years. Their horses are well-mannered and allow even beginners to experience the park on horseback. Visit triple-c-outfitters.com to learn more about operating schedule, trail rides and a photo gallery or call 304-258-1022 ext 6209.

Question

Spa

Answer

There are Spa services located at the park and in nearby Berkley Springs. Look up Berkley Springs State Park for more information on the historic bath houses located there.

Question

Food

Answer

There is a restaurant located at the Park Lodge and Snack Bar at the beach. Outside the park there are a few BBQ places located on 522 between the park and Berkley Springs. Downtown Berkley Springs has a few options too- cafes, brewery, and a few other spots to grab a bite to eat. If you rent a cabin you also will have a full kitchen, and some Lodge rooms are equipped with a kitchenette. There are also public use charcoal grills throughout the park.
