Ceremony: North Unit

July 1-3 (3 days, 2 nights) in the north unit of Teddy Roosevelt NP. It's about 3 hours' drive from Bismarck airport. Hiking, poorly-marked trails, scenic drives, bison. (Check out the Achenbach and Buckhorn trails on AllTrails.) I plan to camp at Juniper Campground, but if you want to sleep indoors there are options in Watford City about 20 min away. The campground is the only one in the north unit and is first-come first-served. I'll probably be driving from Minneapolis with very flexible schedule so I will try to get there in time to save spots as needed. (Plan B: Backcountry!)

Reception: South Unit

July 3-6 (4 days, 3 nights) in the south unit of Teddy Roosevelt NP. The town is Medora, ND. It's about 2 hours' drive from the airport. Hiking (check out the Petrified Forest trail), mountain biking (check out the Maah Daah Hey trail), scenic drives, golf, sunrise and sunset, more bison. I plan to stay in Medora in a rental house called Custer's Cottage. They also have a glamping option in the form of converted wagons. At least one night we will grill and hang in the yard. For accommodation within walking distance I suggest a motel called Elkhorn Quarters or a hotel called AmericInn. One night can even do a group dinner at a restaurant!
