Our love song could fly over mountains and sail over oceans

It started in the time of COVID. When the world was social distancing and everyone seemed so far apart, a Brit and a Yank started to come together. Through the ridiculous world of online dating, they both swiped right, and thus a journey began. Since August 2020, WhatsApp has constantly sounded off with back-and-forth chatter of two awkwardly, introverted people 3,000 miles apart. The frequency of text eventually turned into phone conversations, both parties fearing awkward silence and conversations, except it wasn’t. With an ease of people who have known each other for years, the simple acquaintance developed into something more. Being very private people, the world around them was unaware of the start of their unique love story. Eventually, Candi was off to China for work, both trying to figure out how to communicate in a land where WhatsApp is banned. Insert a VPN. While in quarantine, the two would talk for hours, Calum trying to maintain Candi’s sanity. Pictures of outside, walks with the dog, and other silly things were the bright spot of Candi’s day. After quarantine, the conversations continued, navigating around the 7-hour time difference, and often competing work schedules. When it was time for Candi to return home from China, a stop in the UK to see if the feelings developed over technology were the same in person was in order. Within a few hours, it was evident the feelings were mutual and indeed very real. Calum then made the journey to Michigan, to meet Candi's family and spend more time together. Walking into the Weaver household, into the fray of a large family, Candi thought he was going to run, but he stuck it out. After a trip to Palm Springs (visiting Calum's US family) and a conversation in the desert watching shooting stars, a very untraditional proposal was made.
