The proposal was completely unexpected-on both our ends. She had just taken a full time job up in Oregon and wanted to come to California to visit before things got crazy. In my mind, I was going to propose in the Summer - but with this spontaneous trip around the corner, I knew I had to make my move sooner than later. I called the ring company and asked if they could put a rush on the ring. It was April 13th when I decided to propose. I knew I wanted to capture the moment but I didn't want her to be suspicious of anything when she saw me carrying around a camera and filming. So, I told her we were going on a photo + video shoot so that when the moment came, she wouldn't think anything about me filming 'the moment.' We first drove out to the spot where we had our first 'date.' It was actually the spot where we first went out for a bite to eat and the waitress mistook us for a 'couple.' It was a little awkward then but we laugh about it now. After breakfast we drove out to Abbott Kinney in Venice. We roamed the streets, did some window shopping, & sipped some Blue Bottle Coffee -all while taking photos and capturing video footage of our afternoon on the town. After lunch I took us to the Venice Canals (get it Canals - Canales?). There I had her walk across the bridge a few times while I captured footage. As she acted out one more cinematic walk across the bridge I proceeded to meet her halfway. She then stopped in her tracks with a curious look on her face. I handed her a card which she opened. The words on the card said, 'I love you.' Three words we hadn't yet said to each other up until this day. Now she understood what was going on. I opened my bible and had her read Ecclesiastes 9:9 "Enjoy life with the wife whom you love..." I said a few words, got down on my knee and... She said, 'Yes!' -Danny
