Modeled after our Nation's Capitol building and just 3 ft shorter than the dome of the National Capitol in Washington, D.C., the Wisconsin State Capitol's dome measures larger by volume and sits within the 13.5 acre Capitol Square. Measured as such, it’s one of the largest and most beautiful domes in the world, and it is also the only granite dome on a U.S. capitol building.
Surrounding the Capitol Square is the Wisconsin State Farmer's Market that occurs every Saturday morning. One of the best and largest farmer's markets. Make sure you get a loaf of Stella's Spicy Cheese Bread and some squeaky cheese curds!
Enjoy a walk up and/or down Madison's iconic State Street. The road is about a half-mile walk, closed to traffic, and features several cute restaurants and shops.
